~Surprise Birthday Gift~

I received a special birthday gift in the mail today from my dear friend Connie. She sent me a wonderful candle ledge that she and her hubby have been making. I already found the perfect spot for it. I just have to find a candle to sit on the ledge. I have been wanting one of these so I was sooo excited to get this!! She also sent me some yummy smelling tarts and cute little wax mug with putka pods and some mug mats that she has been making since getting a new sewing machine for her birthday last week. She's doing a great job! I just love it all! I am putting the mug mats on my island next to my fall placemats. They will look perfect. I am so blessed to have Connie as a friend. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. Thank you Connie!

~This Weeks Projects~

I finally finished a few projects I have been working on for my cottage prim bedroom and bath. Mr. Briar Ridge and I made the soap holder and the candle holder. I'm just waiting for my sweet annie to come in and they will be completely finished. I will be adding sweet annie to the basket and little sprigs to the soap.
Thank you Kris at Simply Prim for the great tutorials on the soap holder and candle holder! Mine aren't as nice as yours but they will do.

Evelyn over at Lee Hill Primitives is having a birthday giveaway. She is giving away some amazing goodies. Stop by her blog and tell her I sent you.

~Oreo is home~

We finally got to bring out adopted kitty home. It has been a week since her leg was amputated and you would never know. She runs around all over the place even jumping onto the sofa. She is the sweetest kitty. Even Mr. Briar Ridge has fallen in love with her. He was the man that hated cats. They seem to have a special bond since he was the one that picked her up off the road.

~Fall Stitchins~

~Some Fall Stitchin~

I don't really have anything to post about today. I have lots of new projects started but they are unfinished. We have been spending some time at our local no kill animal shelter. 2 weeks ago hubby and I found a little kitty on the side of the road screaming in pain. We immediately stopped the car and picked up the kitty. She had so many injuries that we didn't think she was going to make it. We are amazed how she is coming along. Tuesday she is scheduled to have one of her front legs amputated. After that she will be coming home with us. We hadn't intended on keeping her but after all she has been through, we couldn't leave her at the shelter to live her life. I'll take some pics of her soon. We think we are going to name her Oreo since she is black & white.

Here are a couple of fall samplers I stitched up recently. I thought I would share with you all.

~My new find~

Hubby and I went to a Peddler Mall in town last week and I found this x-stitched sampler for $3.50. I decided it would look perfect if I primmed it up a bit so I coffee stained it. It's actually darker than it looks. It was already framed and I haven't decided if I want to paint the frame black or not. I thought it was a great deal. It is signed and dated.

~Happy Memorial Day~

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day.
I want to apologize for not posting in quite some time. I started this blog with lots of excitement and great ideas but I have been having some problems and haven't been able to post.
I have suffered from severe depression for the past 2 years since we lost our sweet son Rj.
I go weeks at a time in almost complete silence unable to do much of anything. I am going to try and do better as I think this is good for me to help keep my mind on other things. I have lots of things lined up so keep your fingers crossed that this will be a better week for me.

Swapping Saturday

I belong to a great group of prim girls on Facebook and we started a traveling swap package.
I have been waiting my turn patiently and today the package came. I just LOVE getting packages in the mail!! The box was full of prim goodies. This is what I am keeping. Now I just have to fill it back up for the next girl.

Here is one of the cubby's that hubby has been working on today.

Today out of the blue I decided to start a blog. I thought why not give it a try, everyone is doing it. I have no idea what I am doing!! It has been a great weekend here in Kentucky. Saturday was beautiful. It was the Kentucky Derby here. There were derby parties everywhere but we aren't into that so we went to my sisters house for dinner, played a few games & I got to rummage through her closet for new clothes. How fun!! Today has been rainy but that's okay with me, I'm still in my pj's!! I have been doing laundry and making pantry cakes all day. Char at The Pickled Pepper Patch shared a great recipe for pantry cakes using no food items. (Thanks Char) Hubby has been making 3 bin cubby's all day. We have several orders for them that need to go out tomorrow. I guess that's about all for now. Have a great week everyone!!

Prim Blessings, Shan
